The Silent Man

A man whose vocal cords have been cut

He watches the world; people talk over him

He’s alone

He doesn’t even hear his own thoughts because he never heard himself speak.

What would a man be without his voice?

Would there be charm?

Would there be wit?

Would there be love?

Would there be anger?

Would there be sadness?

Would there be sweetness?

How can he belong in this competitive soundscape?

Would he be a great listener?

Would he be a shoulder to cry on?

Would he be a masterful musician?

He could be a powerful artist

Would he have friends?

Or would he be a nomad?

Could he be a hero?

Or would he simply be like everyone else.
